Join us for Variations on, a series of interviews with emerging Canadian artists that bring the works housed in the Zwig Foundation Collection into conversation with contemporary art.
Brian Rideout is a realist painter working through traditions within art history, to create archival portraits of Mid-Century American painting and design. Paired with the work of Gordon Smith, Rideout will discuss themes of collecting, art history, canonization, and abstraction vs. realism.
Through this program, we hope to challenge static scholarly perspectives on art, bringing in alternative points of view that can reinvigorate our understanding of Canadian Art.
Please join us early as space for this event is limited.
